Hotel degli Orafi dates back to the 13th century when it was built as an Augustinian convent. In the interior of the building there are still traces of an antique medieval tower that was destroyed by Ghibellini in the year 1260. This hotel is also known for the beautiful “Room with a view” with the magnificent terrace overlooking Ponte Vecchio that was a part of the film shot in 1985 with the same name, starring James Ivory. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city facing the Ponte Vecchio and with the Uffizi Gallery next to it. All shops and other museums in walking distance.
The breakfast room, which serves American buffet breakfast, was once a ballroom with 19th- century frescoes and has a view of the River Arno and Via dei Georgofili. There's also a panoramic bar with terrace and roof garden overlooking the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio, where you can sit and enjoy local traditional cuisine as pasta, pizza and snacks or just relax with a bottle of a good Chianti wine.
